Bug Me

So, sometimes my comment sections on my stories get quite chatty (which I love, by the way. Don’t feel you have to stop commenting).

But I thought I’d just add this page for where people can drop my a comment if they want to say something to me, or leave a comment but when it’s not necessarily relevant or related to any particular story or blog post.

So, just in case you’ve got something to say, but it doesn’t seem to fit in the comments of any of my stories, here’s a place you can do it.

Hello. ๐Ÿ™‚

You can also follow my on twitter.ย

  2. So I remembered seeing your handwriting in a few of your stories, and I thought of you when I saw this calligraphy tutorial: https://youtu.be/d17ng4rjFDM
I remember your A’s looking pretty fancy. Did you teach yourself?

Stuff like this is definitely not a strength of mine, but I can’t help but wonder how many pencils one could rubber band together and still write neatly enough. ๐Ÿค” No one ever specifies you CAN’T write lines with multiple writing utensils, after all…

    1. This was a cool video and now I want to try this! I don’t know how easily you can manage to write faster lines this way though…

Also yeah I just decided one day I wanted fancy handwriting and googled something like ‘fancy letter a’ ‘fancy letter b’ and so on and chose put a style I liked for each one and practiced them all a bunch! I think I did some of my fancy handwriting in Arlene’s story for Letty’s writing lesson. I have imagined a world with a much lower literacy rate and where people who learn to write will be more likely to learn to write in that kind of flourishy way – especially, someone like Anya who is from a wealthy background, even if she was neglected emotionally.

I also did some of my fancy handwriting in one of my Rose and Lucy prequel stories (I think in My Name is Lucy).

      1. It’s a really neat aesthetic, and I like how ribbon-y it looks. I feel like writing lines with two pencils shouldn’t be too hard, but it would definitely take some practice. And if you’re writing on lined paper, you might have to space the pencils a bit so that they aren’t writing too close together. Though obviously, if you couldn’t write one line with the double pencils as fast as you can write two with the singles, it wouldn’t be practical.

Ah, gotcha. So do you have another style you write in when you’re in a rush or do you write with fancy handwriting all the time? The flourish-y style definitely makes sense with the setting in Arlene’s story. I really liked the pictures you added into Letty’s writing lesson, by the way. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was looking forward to Anya teaching her already, but I think the pictures made it even more heart-warming.

      2. Thank you I’m glad you liked the pictures ๐Ÿ˜€ I just suddenly decided I wanted to include them. When I did Letty’s writing, I held the chalk as badly as possible (I think I held it in a fist in my left hand) and then tried my hardest to properly copy the above of ‘Anya’s writing’. I think holding the chalk would be very clumsy for her so I tried to replicate that by making it clumsy for me.

As for my own writing… I write differently if I’m writing for it to be read by another person than if it’s a note to myself. I do my neatest and most flourish if it’s a card or something for someone. If it’s just a note for someone (like at work) I try to make it very neat but not necessarily swirly/decorative. If it’s just for me, then sometimes I do it quite swirly. If I’m not in a rush that’s when I’m probably likely to experiment with how I form the letters. If I’m in a rush, it may just be scrawled.

    1. Hi SLC I fully intend to update Anna’s story eventually but I admit I have reached the end of my immediate inspiration for new chapters on it at the moment. There are likely to be a lot more Nicola and Hattie updates coming soon, as well as a few new Arlene chapters ๐Ÿ™‚

I was just wondering if you have an email address? Iโ€™m an artist and while sketching today I couldnโ€™t get Rose and Lucy out of my head. I love doing little character sketches so I thought Iโ€™d send it on to you if youโ€™d be interested?

    1. Hehe, I swear I am working on it! I have a few chapters drafted and some plot ideas in my head. However, I might update Nicki and Hattie a bit first in the near future as I sort of left them on a cliff hanger…. (though I realise Arlene’s on a cliff hanger too… oh no!)
